2021 Land Rover Range Rover Velar New Exterior Design

One look at the 2021 Range Rover Velar is enough to convince even the most discerning eye that Land Rover’s designers hit the nail on the head. Unfortunately, the Velar’s blasé driving demeanor doesn’t match its natty attire. Buyers can choose from a turbocharged four-cylinder, a hybridized inline-six, or a raucous V-8 engine, but none of the Velar models quite match rivals such as the BMW X3 or the Porsche Macan for driving satisfaction. Instead, the appeal here is in the Velar’s curb appeal and its high-style cabin, which is outfitted with all manner of tech baubles, as well as nicely chosen materials suitable for an SUV bearing the Range Rover name. Let’s review the 2021 Range Rover Velar with Bestechz!

Interior, Comfort, and Cargo

Dig modern architecture? You’ll probably like the Velar’s simple interior, rendered largely from horizontal lines and bold rectilinear forms. Oh, and the materials used throughout are high quality and deployed in interesting ways. Take the door trim: Instead of using a spear of wood or carbon fiber inlaid into the upper part of the door panels, Land Rover adds the owner’s choice of wood or metal into the section of the door between the upper and lower panels. Our test vehicle featured aluminum trim, and every Velar has excellent detailing throughout. The Velar’s generally boxy shape and visually pleasing rear overhang—bodywork that extends behind the rear wheels—combine to swallow more carry-on suitcases than its immediate competitors with its rear seats up or folded. We fit 10 of our carry-ons behind the rear seats and 23 with all seats folded.

Range Rover Velar Exterior

The Range Rover Velar looks exquisite from all sides. The architecture is similar to that of the F-Pace, but the Velar looks rather neat and beautiful. There are no unnecessary crease lines to complement the exterior. The dead straight shoulder line between the headlamps and taillights along with a sloping roofline give the Velar a prominent look on the sides. However, the oval-shaped fuel door looks a bit off considering the luxurious attributes of the Velar. One of the distinct features of this car is its door handles. They merge with the door when they are locked and pop out only when the car is unlocked. The front fascia looks stylish due to the premium LED DRL’s, chrome grille, and sleek bonnet. The Brits have tried to keep the rear end of this vehicle very simple, but the futuristic-looking taillights do give away the luxurious nature of this vehicle.

Infotainment and Connectivity

Of course, we’d be remiss if we discussed the interior without tipping our caps to the wildly futuristic-looking dual dashboard-touchscreen displays. These dual 10.0-inch displays run Land Rover’s new Pivi Pro infotainment interface, which is both easier to use and more responsive than last year’s InControl Touch Pro system, but it’s not without its quirks. Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity, voice control, eight speakers, in-dash navigation, and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto integration are all standard. A better audio system with more speakers and SiriusXM satellite radio requires additional options or a move up through the Velar’s trim levels.

Range Rover Velar Engine & Fuel Consumption

Under the hood, the Velar packs a massive 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder engine with a twin-scroll turbocharger along with 8-speed transmission setup. This engine generates a power of 247 hp and a maximum torque of 365 Nm. The Velar goes from 0-100 kmph in 6.7 seconds and can achieve a maximum speed of 217 kmph.

Operate the Range Rover Velar

The British luxury car company uses 3 engine options for the Range Rover Velar, 1 engine oil and 2 petrol engine. 2.0L diesel engine with turbocharging technology, maximum capacity of 180 horsepower. The gasoline engine consists of a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder with a capacity of 247 horsepower. The version displayed at the Vietnam Import Motor Show is the supercharged V6 version, 3.0L capacity with a maximum capacity of 380Hp capable of accelerating to 100km / h in 5.7s, maximum speed 250km / h. All are combined with 8-speed automatic transmission and 4-wheel drive. The vehicle still has the familiar Terrain Response technology.

Range Rover Velar Verdict

The Velar scores full marks for its subtle exterior and a range of luxurious features. It is available in three variants in the Malaysian market and the base model starts at around RM 500,000. The Velar might be a bit low on practicality than the Range Rover Sport but fills in this gap very well just by its elegant looks and comfortable handling. If you are one of those luxury SUV enthusiasts who don’t mind spending a few bucks more for sheer luxury, then Velar is the right choice for you.
