Huawei has developed its new line of products, the Huawei P30 Pro, which has advantages in all aspects over its predecessor, the P20 Pro. Huawei P30 Pro owns a cluster of 4 Leica cameras with impressive quality in the back and top-notch performance. In terms of specifications this is a smart phone with the most powerful configuration at the time of its launch. In this Huawei P30 Pro review let us explore the details of this phone, to see if it is worth the money you spend!

Design of Huawei P30 Pro

The P30 Pro is available in Pearl White, Aurora, Amber Sunrise and Breathing Crystal. Please note that the white version is not available in some countries, such as Germany.

Don’t let the giant screen of the P30 Pro fool you, because this is a relatively compact device thanks to its curved screen and large screen-to-body ratio and its overall size is smaller than the iPhone XS Max, or even the Galaxy S10 +. So holding the P30 Pro is quite comfortable. Huawei achieved this by simply placing the front camera above the display, housed in a small waterdrop notch. Furthermore, the P30 Pro has Huawei Acoustic Display, which emits sound through the screen without the need for traditional speakers.

The phone has a modern design, with a combination of 2 glass and metal frames, giving a very solid feel. Both sides of the glass curved slightly into the frame like the Samsung Galaxy S series, which makes the P30 Pro look thinner than it really is.

The card slot is located on the underside of the frame and doesn’t quite match the color of the Breathing Crystal version. The outside of the slot is metal, while the two sides of the slot are made of plastic. P30 Pro supports two nano cards and SIM or nano memory card instead of the second SIM.

The P30 Pro also has a 4,200 mAh battery that Huawei hides underneath the glass on the back, which prevents the battery from being swapped. However, because the battery cannot be replaced, the device is IP68 certified for dust and water resistance.

Software of Huawei P30 Pro

Huawei P30 Pro uses Android 9.0 Pie operating system at the time of writing, along with Huawei’s familiar custom interface EMUI 9.1.

Huawei made a few minor tweaks to EMUI 9.1 vs. 9.0 EMUI including GPU Turbo 3.0 and changed the look of a few icons. In my opinion, the photography app has undergone the biggest changes that I will cover more deeply in the Camera section. In addition to this, Huawei has developed the Beam function and has made minor changes to the menus. The company added an SOS function, which sends an SMS to emergency contact with your current location. You can also set up to send important medical information. The SOS function has shown good results in our tests and is activated by pressing the power button quickly five times.

Huawei also removed the user account controls that Google brought in to Android. The Huawei company sets extensive security options and allows you to back up HiSuite to a computer, external memory card, USB memory stick, or NAS.

Accordingly, there are only a few pre-installed third-party apps, all of which can be uninstalled. Huawei also continues to develop its own app store, called AppGallery.

In these cameras, the main camera with a 40 MP SuperSpectrum sensor has a fairly new pixel arrangement. Instead of having red, yellow and two half blue pixels, this sensor replaces half a blue pixel into yellow. This has the benefit of increasing light sensitivity. Actually the new sensor can absorb 40% more light than conventional sensors.

In addition to the main camera, the P30 Pro also has an ultra-wide-angle camera and a periscope zoom camera that isn’t available on any phone model yet. This new periscope camera gives you 5x zoom with a focal distance of 125mm. You can also use the hybrid zoom to zoom up to 50x, which can help you take photos of the moon with your phone.

The fourth camera on the phone measures the depth of the subject, by emitting a beam and using the reflected beam to determine the distance. This technique is not new and it allows for accurate measurement of the depth of subjects, accurately separating the subject and background. It helps users to take beautiful photos that erase fonts.

In short, the P30 Pro has an incredible focal length and currently has the most versatile set of cameras of any smartphone we’ve tested.

And if you ask about the quality of photos, I can succinctly say: At the time of the launch of the Huawei P30 Pro there was no phone capable of taking impressive photos like it! You will get great photography experiences while using this camera.

Front camera

The front camera is equipped with a 32MP sensor with f / 2.0 aperture, which shows that it can take good photos in low light conditions. My initial test shot looked pretty good even in dim light, but there was still a bit of noise coming out.
